Railway timber spike, also known as railroad tie lag bolt, sleeper screw, or railway screw, is a metal screw used to connect steel track elements to wooden or concrete sleepers. It is a common part of the rail fastening system.
Depending on their type, timber screw spikes differ in terms of their length, pitch, and thread height; the mandrel diameter of the threaded part; and the dimensions of the collar part.

Railway timber spike can be made from a variety of materials, including Q235, 35# steel, 45# steel, and 40cr. It depends on customers’ requirement.
Railway timber spikes are primarily used to hold down the baseplates that attach rails to sleepers and prevent vertical and lateral movements between them. As screw spikes, they often used for plate holding, have good initial restraint and hold-down capabilities. In America and Canada, railway timber spike is often used for rails with wooden sleepers. That's why they're called railway timber spike in these countries.
Among these railway timber spikes, dome head spikes and square washer head spikes are the most common ones. These spikes are used in tieplate, switch, and twin hook plates. Highway crossing planks, bridges and other areas where rigid fastening is required.
Various types and styles of railway timber spikes are available in our factory. We are able to customize railway timber spikes according to your drawing or samples.
