S60 ribbed baseplates (also known as 60E1 or UIC60 baseplates) are heavy-duty track components designed for rails with a 150 mm base width and a weight of 60.21 kg/m. These are the standard for high-speed lines and heavy-haul freight due to their superior load-bearing capacity.
S60 baseplates are categorized under the Rph 6 section profile. They are larger and heavier than the S49 (Rph 1) series to accommodate the wider rail foot and higher dynamic forces.
Shoulder Design: Typically feature a double-shoulder layout to lock the 150 mm rail base firmly, preventing gauge widening under extreme lateral pressure.
Rail Inclination: Manufactured with a built-in 1:40 or 1:20 cant to ensure optimal wheel-rail contact, reducing wear on both the rail head and the rolling stock wheels.
Fastening Compatibility: Most commonly used in K-type (GEO) fastening systems using clamp plates (KPO6) and bolts (HS32), or adapted for SKL tension clamps.
Material Strength: Produced using ductile iron (QT500-7) or rolled/forged steel. Ductile iron is often preferred for S60 applications because of its excellent vibration-damping properties and fatigue resistance.
S60 on Wooden Sleepers: Usually requires the 4-hole version (Rph 6-160) to ensure the plate doesn't shift on the timber surface.
S60 on Concrete Sleepers: Often uses specialized 2-hole castings or is integrated into ballastless track systems (like the RHEDA 2000 system).
Signum Rail Fasteners specializes in rail tie plates, specifically for 115RE, 136RE, s49, UIC60 rail sections. We currently support North American and European infrastructure projects by providing forged, rolled and cast plates. We’d love to send over our latest technical data sheets and lead times for your maintenance cycle if you need.
