A Pandrol tie plate (also known as a baseplate or sole plate) is a critical component of a railway fastening system that sits between the steel rail and the railroad tie (sleeper). Its primary purpose is to distribute heavy train loads over a larger surface area to prevent the rail from sinking into or damaging the tie, while also maintaining the correct track gauge and providing an inward tilt (cant) for the rail.
Pandrol tie plates are designed to be used for 5 1/2", 6" or 100 RB base rail with Pandrol rail clips and Pandrol screw spikes.
Pandrol tie plates are railroad tie plates, also known as Pandrol base plates or sole plates, used in railway track construction.
Material: Typically made of steel and can be produced through rolling, casting, or forging.
Design: This specific design is often associated with the Pandrol-type tie plate, which is frequently used in combination with elastic clips.
Fastening: These plates are secured to the sleepers using track bolts, screw spikes, or dog spikes through the pre-drilled holes.
Signum specializes in AREMA tie plates, specifically for 115RE or 136RE rail sections. We currently support North American infrastructure projects by providing forged, rolled and cast plates that meet AREMA Plans specifications. We’d love to send over our latest technical data sheets and lead times for your maintenance cycle if you need.
