• Material: They are typically made from high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel, such as Q235, 35#, 45#, or 40Cr.

• Grades: Various strength grades are available, including 4.6, 5.6, 8.8, and 10.9, to meet specific load requirements.

• Mechanical Properties: Grade 4.6 steel has a minimum tensile strength of 400 MPa, while Grade 8.8 material (such as 45# steel) boasts a tensile strength of 800 MPa and a yield strength of 640 MPa. High-tensile, heat-treated options are available to meet standards like ASTM A66-87, offering even higher tensile strength for extremely heavy-duty use. 

Design and Application

Both the Ss8 and Ss25 feature a design optimized for a secure and long-lasting connection. 

• Head Design: They typically feature a square or hexagonal head to facilitate easy and efficient installation and maintenance using standard tools.

• Thread: The spikes have a threaded body designed for deep penetration into pre-bored holes in wooden sleepers or in combination with a pre-embedded plastic dowel in concrete sleepers.

• Corrosion Resistance: To ensure longevity in harsh environments, they are available with a range of corrosion-resistant finishes, including plain oiled, black oxide, zinc plating, hot-dip galvanization (HDG), and Dacromet.

• System Integration: When used with concrete sleepers and plastic dowels, they form a highly stable fastening point, providing robust resistance to lateral forces and minimizing track movement under heavy dynamic loads. The thread size of the plastic dowel must precisely match the spike's thread.
